AQTreks (AirQuailty Treks)
In AQTreks, students use a Personal Air Monitor (PAM) to measure air pollutants along mobile “Treks” of their design. The PAM wirelessly connects to mobile phones and Treks are displayed in real-time on the AQTreks smartphone application. Each Trek is automatically uploaded via to the AQTreks website for online analysis, discussion, and comparison with other schools.
CoCoRaHS for Schools
Students collect precipitation measurements and report data. Students learn about the science of studying weather.
GLOBE
The GLOBE Program enables you and your class to engage in a collaborative, scientific exploration of the world around you, collaborating with teachers and students from around the world.
Milkweed Monitoring Project
Using milkweed plants to detect ozone air pollution, classrooms provide plant injury data to DNR’s air management biomonitoring unit. Students learn about air pollution and its effects on plants and animals, how to set up study plots and collect plant samples, and how to press and preserve plant samples.
Project BudBurst
Engaging students and encouraging inquiry while collecting data on the phenology of plants. Project BudBurst brings science to life.
S’COOL (Students’ Cloud Observations Online)
NASA scientists are very interested in learning how clouds affect our atmosphere. It is the clouds, in part, that affect the overall temperature and energy balance of the Earth. The more we know about clouds, the more we will know about our Earth as a system! And YOU can help!
Students Discover
Students Discover offers free, high-quality curriculum to middle school science teachers around the world. These curriculum modules were created in partnership between scientists and educators to support student participation in a broad range of citizen science projects, ranging from measuring fossilized shark teeth to observing bird nests on school grounds.
The GLOBE Program (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment)
The GLOBE Program is an international science and education program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment.
