S’COOL (Students’ Cloud Observations Online)
NASA scientists are very interested in learning how clouds affect our atmosphere. It is the clouds, in part, that affect the overall temperature and energy balance of the Earth. The more we know about clouds, the more we will know about our Earth as a system! And YOU can help!
Snapshot in the Classroom
Snapshot Wisconsin is a great way to get students outdoors and learn about local wildlife! The project is a unique opportunity to integrate science and technology into your classroom. Educators can volunteer to host a trail camera with their students at a school forest or other property. Students can also help identify and count critters in photos captured across the state by logging on to the Zooniverse website.
Students will learn to identify squirrels and begin to record data on the types of squirrels found around them. The students will then be able to record their data on the Squirrel Mapper website and view the observations of people in other locations. This activity can also be used to show how the environment (and humans!) can be used to select which organisms are most “successful”, based on their characteristics.
The GLOBE Program (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment)
The GLOBE Program is an international science and education program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment.
The WAV Packet: Make WAVes for Action!
The WAV Packet is a program resource that includes eight action-oriented activities. Activities promote environmental stewardship and a positive learning experience while benefiting a community’s water resources. Activities are appropriate for different age groups.

ZooTeach is a website where teachers and educators can share high quality lesson plans and resources that complement the Zooniverse citizen science projects. Citizen science offers a unique opportunity for any person, of any age, of any background to get involved and make a contribution to cutting edge science. Here at Zooniverse headquarters we believe that getting students involved in citizen science offers educators a free, easily accessible and inspiring opportunity to bring real science into the classroom.
